Here are some pictures of my husband's cousin. I am posting them because THIS KID CAN RUN and I think he deserves some props for his performance in his state high school cross country championships! (#1928, in the purple)
This kid is crazy fast. He finished in 15:58.85, and his splits were 5:01.95, 10:15.10, and 15:29.70. He is being wooed by schools such as UPenn, and Dartmouth, among others. Way to go!!
That's awesome! This is at MIS, isn't it? I recognized it from when I ran CC in high school. My high school coach was the one who had the "dream" to have everyone (each of the classes) run states at MIS, so we always had to volunteer and do extra stuff.
"I always loved running...it was something you could do by yourself, and under your own power. You could go in any direction, fast or slow as you wanted, fighting the wind if you felt like it, seeking out new sights just on the strength of your feet and the courage of your lungs." - Jesse Owens
"There is a time in every man's education when he arrives at the conviction that envy is ignorance; that imitation is suicide; that he must take himself for better, for worse, as his portion; that though the wide universe is full of good, no kernel of nourishing corn can come to him but through his toil bestowed on that plot of ground which is given to him to till. The power which resides in him is new in nature, and none but he knows what that is which he can do, nor does he know until he has tried." - Ralph Waldo Emerson

Nice pics of the cross country meet. I can see the agony on their faces.
I know! Isn't that crazy? I cannot even begin to imagine what a 5 minute mile feels like. Agony is a good way to describe it.
Wow.
